Time line: A little over a year ago Everest was a stray in KCMO.
Everest was taken off the street by a lady that feared for his welfare, he was advertised as found but no takers so while she looked for the local Saint rescuer she took him to a vet clinic to be boarded.
He was adopted by a vet tech working there and lived with she and her family for over a year until a pending divorce and relocation mandated that Everest be rehomed.
I was contacted for the rescue, did my evaluation, had an approved ap on hand that had just missed out on two adoptables that I had, offered Everest as he fit the profile needed for the match up with his new family, He was accepted, delivered and welcomed with open arms. All this within the last month for the most part.
LAST NIGHT: Below is a blow by blow account of why this time line/adoption might have been "meant to be."

Oh my God!  We had to write and tell you both what Everest did last night for our family.  Dan and I were sitting outside having dinner on our patio with Everest on his leash at my feet.  I looked over at the neighbors yard and saw a pitbull running at large bothering the little neoghbor dogs and trying to jump into their fence.  I yelled to Dan to put Everest in the house right away to try to avoid a bad situation.  Just as Dan had Everest half-way in our front door the pit noticed and raced over and tried to attack Dan, Everest and I.  The pit tried to bite Dan and get into our house.  I screamed and our HERO turned and showed the pit who was boss of this kingdom!  Everest has never shown any aggression towards anythign nor anyone but thank god he did last night.  As soon as Dan told Everest to stop he let go of the pits neck( pit ended up with a cut above his eye and on his neck). Dan told me to run with Everest to the bar up the road and call the police as he grabbed the pit and held on for dear life so we could get away.  I was at the top of the hill so I had no idea if or how bad Dan had been bit. As soon as I took his leash, Everest camled down and took off with me and wouldnt leave my side for the rest of the night. The police came and commended Everst for saving us from some serious pit bites and they took the pit off to be quarentined for 10 days.  The pit is current on al his shots we found out, so we have nothin to worry about with our hero.  I think all the townspeple came out to see what the rucuss was when 3 police cars and my screaming was all about.  Everest got so much attention and I think he will be sick of hearin "good boy" for quite some time!  There is goin to be a parade for what is called "Eagle Fun Days" and we were told to have him be in it cuz of what he did.  I am so glad that our children were not here last night nor the other 2 dogs were out.  The three sheriffs that came out said if we ever wanted to get rid of him (deffinitely NOT)  or needed a dog sitter, let them know!
Everst our HERO and now more of a town celeb!
Thought you would love to hear what a wonderful dog he is-- yeh we knew you both already knew that but this is one more reason!
